We come to another comparison of more-or-less wallet-friendly graphing calculators! Today, we will compare some old Texas Instruments models that seem to be as reliable as the more modern siblings: TI-73 and TI-83. As at a glance they can be somehow identical to each other, let us delve a little further now. Take a look : TI 82 Vs TI 83.

TI-73 Vs TI-83

Do not let the numbers fool you. TI-83 is a few years older than TI-73. With that mentioned, they do share a lot of resemblances in the layout design. But, if we observe carefully, TI-83 contains more buttons. TI-73 is missing a few things, like sine and cosine buttons, and navigating through the menus for some functions that otherwise can be easily accessed with a few punches is just not very practical.

TI-73 and TI-83 have wide display screen capable of showing 16×8 characters. Both are armed with 32 KB total RAM, Zilog Z80 6MHz processor, plus I/O port. Hence, in terms of performance, the two products are roughly on the same level. However, the newer TI-73 features flash memory, which allows the user to update the operating system whenever needed, as well as to store large flash apps. TI-83 does not support flash memory, but you may want to know that the updated version, TI-83 Plus, comes with a flash memory that is equal in size to TI-73.
